The weeks are whizzing by and we are getting on with all the autumn jobs. We’ve spread the muck and drilled the cover crops (stubble turnips to keep some ground cover over the winter as well as providing sheep feed when grass gets short). Hopefully we’ll be planting the winter wheat on Monday, the weather is looking good all next week. Our new apprentice Joe is settling in well and is a very welcome addition to our team. He is attending Hartpury College on Wednesdays for the formal part of his training and we provide the practical bits.
I will try and get the Christmas order form sorted soon, we don’t forsee any supply issues at Old Farm this Christmas but it may be a good idea to get your orders in earlier rather than later.
We are members of LEAF (Linking Environment and Farming) – they have produced a simple guide showing how all of us can make a difference, whilst highlighting the positive actions in Farming that can help to tackle climate change – it explains a few of the things that we are doing at the farm to try and help… Climate change booklet
